Dog groomer-stylist Agilė, who has many years of experience, shares about the mistakes owners make when bathing their pet.
Incorrectly adjusted water temperature/water flow too high
Checking the water temperature both before and during bathing is essential. The pet often wanders around the bath precisely because the water is too cold or too hot. The water temperature should be comfortable for your own hands (not too hot and not too cold).
A very powerful stream of water scares the pet. A very low stream of water should be used when washing the pet's head and muzzle, so that the water does not get directly into the ears and eyes.
Incorrect choice of shampoo/not using conditioner and mask
Owners are often tempted by cheaper pet cosmetics or use their own. HOWEVER, they are not interested in the fact that MOST expensive shampoos for professional use are sold CONCENTRATED, they are diluted with water in the proportions specified by the manufacturer. Therefore, instead of the purchased 250 ml shampoo, you will have ~ 1 l of a truly QUALITY product FOR THE SAME OR EVEN LOWER PRICE.
Incorrectly selected shampoo dries out the pet's coat, it starts to fall out, and dandruff appears. And in order for the coat to be nourished, not lacking in moisture, and easier to comb, you MUST use a conditioner (mask).
Poor drying of the pet's coat
Undried pet fur can not only make the pet sick (cold), but also contributes to the formation of fur tangles. Therefore, ALWAYS blow dry your pet's fur and brush it.
Scolding a pet that is afraid of water does the opposite of praising or calming it
Bathing in the bath often causes stress not only for the more sensitive pet, but also for the owner. KEEP CALM AND DO NOT GIVE INTO ANGER because of your pet's restless behavior. If it is difficult to manage alone, involve other family members in the bathing process. Let it become a fun time for everyone together, without tension and quarrels - with MANY TASTIES AND PRAISES.
